For those that haven't been in the real estate industry before, you may think it's filled with people making money hand over fist and building incredibly large nest eggs to retire early and live a life of financial freedom. You're right, there are SOME people doing that. Sales through the roof. Investment properties in a large portfolio. Huge egos. Large incomes.

When you peel back the curtain, you'll find there are a TON of people that dodn't live like that. They tended to fall into 2 main groups.

 Group 1: They didn't know when their next paycheck was coming. They couldn't pay their bills. They were scraping by just to be able to afford to stay in the industry hoping their big break would eventually come. 

Group 2: They made just enough money to afford their current lifestyle. They save a bit. They have some nice things. Yet the problem here is that they haven't made enough to save, invest, or make a plan for a BIG financial future. They are stuck in a career that they love. They make just enough money to stay in yet once life throws a curveball their way or they get to the age of retirement, they are stuck. They're making just enough year over year with no plan or way to build wealth.

Enough is enough. We can't have people in this extremely powerful industry floating about financially. Here is where REL Freedom was born. We're here to help:

Mike Swenson is a real estate entrepreneur, investor, and podcast host dedicated to helping others build true financial and time freedom through real estate. His journey began in 2010 as an accidental landlord and quickly evolved into flipping, short sales, and investment properties before he went full-time in real estate in 2014. Known for blending strategy with execution, Mike has built his career around scaling businesses and creating repeatable paths to wealth.

He spent six years as Chief Operating Officer of a fast-growing real estate team in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, helping scale the business from a small local group into a multi-state operation with more than 50 agents, ranking among the top residential teams in the country. After launching his own team, Mike found his true focus in multifamily investing. Through Pinnacle Capital Investments, he now specializes in apartment buildings and passive investing strategies, overseeing a portfolio of 260+ units across multiple projects, primarily in Minnesota.

Mike is also the host of the REL Freedom Podcast (Real Estate Leveraged Freedom), where he’s published over 300 episodes since 2020—placing the show in the top 2% of all podcasts worldwide. On the show, he interviews high-performing investors and operators to uncover practical strategies for building wealth, leverage, and lifestyle freedom through real estate.

A Minnesota native, Mike is deeply committed to his family and can usually be found coaching his sons’ sports teams or cheering from the sidelines with his wife and kids when he’s not working on deals or recording podcasts.
